I was asked to do some ads to help improve the image of British industry.
I didn’t do any.
Britain’s big businesses were coming under a great deal of attack. From the public and from some parts of the press. I was asked to create a campaign for the Confederation of British Industry to counteract the criticism. But rather than running a series of chest-beating ads about how great business was for the country, I suggested creating a forum for open and honest debate.
The ‘campaign’ was only supposed to last 6 months, but proved so effective it ran for 5 years.
